3 Weeks Ago in Chicago

Rain on this parade all you want, Chicago. You can’t stop One-Handed Witch.

Three weeks ago in Chicago, through the endless deluge of rain, One-Handed Witch flew on unhindered and unmolested, and blew everyone away.

A lot of doubters asked the Hiss, “Why Chicago, cousin?” And my answer was always the same. When I called, they picked up, and a game of darts. Chicago wanted One-Handed Witch. New York did not. Detroit did not. In the end, we followed our noses through the hole in the clouds and crash landed at Links Hall to an overpacked house—I oversold the venue. People had to sit on the floor and stand against the walls. It was a blowout.

How was the show? From where I was standing, the film projected onto the back wall and everything looked dragon-size, the biggest screen yet. The band was tighter than a witch’s brazier. The stagehands and extras were as unpredictable as spells, and the audience for both nights were hands-down amazing. Thank you, Links Hall and Chicago!

I found everything I wanted in Chicago … except a photographer. Here are a few pictures from audience members to stimulate your eyeballs. Yes, we looked this sexy in-person.

I promoted the peanuts out of this show. A special thanks to Manual Cinema. Who I contacted late in the game and asked them to help push it over the edge. They Follow my collaborators Sara Draghi and Rita Deiola on social media so I bet they were familiar with their work. Thank you also to my opening acts, saw player Jen Lauren from Sweet Sheiks and one-man band, Ciat Conlin the magical idea machine. See you at the next show. The conjuring continues.
